Managing Principal

Ato is the Managing Principal of Maverick Research.  With 19 years of work experience across Market and Social Research, Brand  Management and  General Management.

Previously, Ato led Nielsen’s Retail Measurement Practice in Ghana and Nigeria, covering over 100 FMCG categories in both markets.

He was also the Country Director for Ghana and Client Business Partner – Unilever, where he led significant growth of the Ghana business and the Unilever-Nielsen engagement across Sub Sahara Africa.

Ato joined Nielsen in 2012, having spent 12 years growing brands at Procter and Gamble (Cincinnati, OH) and Sun Products (Wilton, CT) and driving growth at Millward Brown (Fairfield, CT).

Ato holds an MBA from University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Bachelor’s of Arts in Economics from Oberlin College, Oberlin, OH.

Finance and Admin

Yao leads our Finance and Administration function at Maverick.  He is Finance and Strategy professional with significant international experience in cost analysis. While leading Procter and Gamble’s (P&G) finance team as Plant Accounting Manager, Yao Amekor owned all financial analysis particularly Cost & Feasibility, Lease vs Buy, and Supply Chain Efficiency Analysis, as well as all Net Present Value insights at P&G’s St Louis Plant, Missouri, USA.

At P&G, Yao Amekor also demonstrated expertise in world-class budget management processes and cost savings, long range depreciation analysis, and building/improving organizational capability.

He is adjunct lecturer at the University of Professional Studies Accra (UPSA).

Yao Amekor’s educational background includes a MBA in Finance & Strategy from Washington University in St Louis, USA and a MA in Economics and Finance from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, USA. He also holds a Bachelors in Business Administration (Finance & Banking) from the University of Ghana, Legon.

Business Support Analyst

Sadique attended the University of Ghana, Legon where he earned a degree in Business Administration. He provides support to Maverick’s digital platforms and general operations. Prior to his current role, he was a Digital Marketing Coordinator at Groupe Nduom. He holds certificates in Digital Marketing and Google Analytics.
